Statement

I am currently based in South East London and consider myself a researcher of home. By specializing in Live Art in my graduate year of a BA Hons Drama and Theatre Arts Degree at Goldsmiths College, is how I arrived at my graduate performance installation; 'I shall see your houses'. I devised the piece around the concept/question; what makes your house your home? This became the central tool and led me to pursue those around me for their responses and reflections, of which I documented by audio. This was, and has become, the basis by which I desire to research. Through others.

'I shall see your houses' was primarily conducted in a wooden house - the participant was invited to engage in a one on one performance with myself, whereby she or he is led through an audio of documented interview mentioned above, alongside a set of choreographed visual compositions, executed with small plaster cast houses by myself.

The performance has since been adapted and challenged with each person who has participated and each space it has been situated; under a staircase at Northern Stage for the Wunderbar Festival 2009 in Newcastle and Gateshead, in a packed warehouse for Live Art Speed Date at the Arcola Theatre, and recently in a Regency aged building for a festival of work exploring concepts of home.

I am currently in the process of further archiving people's written responses to their own homes; how we make our homes, the form in which they come, and the importance they possess is I believe to be a universally shared aspect of our lives.
