Statement
Daniel graduated from the Contemporary Arts degree at Nottingham Trent University in 2003, where he had specialised in making experimental performances. Since then he has continued to make clumsy, audience involving, farcical site-specific performances, videos and lectures as a solo artist and in live art duo ‘AuntyNazi’. AuntyNazi made an effort to push the role of audience ‘volunteers’, blur the boundaries between the characters and the performers biographies, and play with suspension of disbelief by fictionalising there own devising processes in the finished performances. Recently he has been pursuing his own interest in mixing true biographical, and event specific stories with myth and lies, and orchestrating small creative inputs that he encourages audiences to contribute to his work. Currently this methodology is being used to make work for The Fete Encounter (www.thefeteencounter.co.uk). This involves the invention of a form of dance know as nu-traditional. Daniel played Ukulele and sings in the live art punk band ‘Master’, and played Violin in the eccentric rock ensemble ‘The Hellset Orchestra’ and works as a writer, actor and musician for contemporary dance choreographer Frauke Requardt.
Daniel is currently studying the MA Performance at Queen Mary University, London where he is pursuing his interest in awkwardness, failure and participation.
