Statement
Christina a Hertfordshire based artist currently working as a fellow of the Digswell Arts Trust for emerging artists, where she works alongside other local artists in the studios based in Digswell near Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
Her work looks at our perception of space and our interpretation of familiar environments. She works using a variety of techniques. She creates 3d drawings using wire and combines it with 2d drawings to alter and further our experience of a space. She looks to push herself and viewers to think about this emotional connection we have to spaces we inhabit and the history behind them.
She also works using photography and experiment with the space we see within a photograph, cutting, drawing and painting on top of and re-photographing. This is a very experimental process and allows hert to openly explore the spaces she is playing with. She finds that the process of playing with familiar images and objects can bring new ideas and associations into what is usually unseen and unconsidered.
She is now looking to push her work further and increase awareness of it through working in more group shows and networking within groups holding similar concerns.
