Statement
Øystein is joint artistic director of Imploding Fictions and works as a freelance director, dramaturg and playwright. In Oslo he runs one of Imploding Fictions main projects: Oslo International Theatre.
Directing credits include Hamletmachine (international tour to Amsterdam, Rome and Cairo), Norway.Today (Junction, Southwark Playhouse), the first performance of SATB by Meredith Oakes (BAC) and The Hitch (site specific, Oslo).
The Hitch, written by Øystein in collaboration with Marie Ulsberg, received an award in the Norwegian Theatre Council's Playwrighting Competition. Other awards: Premio Internazionale Claudio Gora (Hamletmachine) and Young Angels Theatremakers Award (Norway.Today).
Øystein trained as a theatre director at Rose Bruford College. He is an experienced workshop leader and teaches improvisation, writing for theatre, drama, digital filmmaking and creative writing as well as other subjects. He is also an associate artist of Company of Angels, an artistic collaborator of Preface Morn performance company, directs radio plays for Bunbury Banter Theatre Company and works regularly as a mentor for the Norwegian arts organisation Trafo.no.
