Statement

I am a critical writer and performer based in London. I occasionally develop performance work as a solo artist, and have also collaborated extensively with Chris Goode and Apocryphal Theatre (www.flyingoutofsequence.org). I have also worked with Barbara Campbell, Doran George, Punchdrunk, Rotozaza, Rajni Shah, and Unlimited Theatre.

My work addresses issues of loss and presence. It explores how these states can be performed and articulated, and the idea that performance itself enacts these states. Form and content cohabitate; presence is the performance of itself; loss is compellingly inarticulate.

I am currently pursuing doctoral research into relational aesthetics and theatricality at Queen Mary, University of London. I was also a writer with Writing from Live Art, a Live Art UK initiative, and my critical writing has been published in AN Magazine, Dance Theatre Journal, The Live Art Almanac, and RealTime (Australia).

In both my critical writing and performance, I explore the potential within performance for social intervention. I am a member and former Executive Committee member of Alternate ROOTS (www.alternateroots.org), a southeastern US-based organisation of artists working for social justice.
